Amanda & Kumail's Wedding 2009

What a treat to share three days with this amazing couple, Amanda & Kumail! They did such a wonderful job of meshing their two cultures/religions together. It was absolutely intriguing to bear witness to such beautiful traditions. This wedding was full of flavorful colors, adornments and great people. New Photos of the California Coast!

On my way back to Canada from San Francisco I drove up the coastal highway 101. It's a spectacular drive and I highly recommend it to anyone who looking for beautiful views and great food! I stopped in the small towns along the way when I got hungry to eat the fabulous seafood. The ocean was spectacular and there were huge California condors flying above in search of food. Closer to San Francisco there was a heavy fog but it generally subsided by midday as I traveled north. It created some intriguing shots of trees in a misty atmosphere though. Here are a few photos I took from the coast. They are under the new Gallery: California under Places on my website. I will keep adding more so check back.

*Death Valley*

So on my recent trip to the USA I had the opportunity to visit Death Valley in California. It was a very cool desert but the HEAT was extreme!! There are signs that tell you to turn off your air conditioning to avoid overheating your vehicle. Crazy eh! Death Valley is definitely worth the trip! There are so many interesting sites to visit and strange history. Even the towns there have appropriate names like "Furnace Creek" or "Stove Top". One of the highlights was the "Racetrack" which is a dried up lake bed in a valley surrounded by mountains. To get there you have to 4x4 across the desert terrain which was rather stressful because I was afraid I might pop a tire but I was so determined to get there I kept on going. Past the forest of tree like cactus and around every bend until finally I reached the "Racetrack". It was well worth the effort because I got some cool shots! There are rocks on the dried up lake bed that slowly move all on there own and leave long trails in the dried up mud so you can literally see where they started and ended up. Scientists are still mystified as to exactly how and when these rocks are moved. Some say winds and others aliens;P Who knows!

New Photo Galleries to Check Out at SPYD Photography!!

Hi Guys! It's been a while since my last post because I've been touring through the USA on a photo tour/vacation. I had such a great time and will be working on photos to share with you all from my trip. I put a lot of miles on my vehicle but got some great shots and even better stories/experiences! I've added a couple new galleries to the website for everyone to check out. I'm very excited about updating them as well as creating new ones from the other places I visited.
